She received her B.S. (1988) in Mathematical Sciences from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and her M.S. (1990) and Ph.D. (1993) in Mathematics from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. She joined the Natural Sciences Department at UAS in 2005 after serving 12 years as a mathematics faculty member at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. She has taught mathematics at all levels from developmental through thesis research at the Masters level, has co-authored two textbooks and a handful of research papers. Her passion is teaching mathematics to help produce quantitatively-literate, critical-thinking, and productive citizens. |
Computer Science, 206B Chapman 907-474-5737 (business) ffjdg@uaf.edu | Jon GenettiPast President, UAF Faculty Senate (2007-2008)Member, Faculty Alliance Jon Genetti is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science (2001-pres). He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University in 1993. His previous experience includes three years (1993-1996) as a visiting assistant professor at UAF and five years (1996-2001) as a research scientist at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. Since returning to UAF, Jon has been CS program chair (2002-2004), CS department chair (2005-pres), elected to the Faculty Senate in 2004 and chair of the Faculty Affairs committee during the 2005-06 term. His primary interest in governance is a desire that UAF provides all students with the best education possible. As admission standards rise, it becomes very tempting to put those who fail to meet the standards into remedial programs and forget about them. She received her B.S. and M.S in geology from Stanford University (1975) and her doctorate in geology from the University of Montana (1984). She began her interests in Quaternary geology looking at estuarine/salt marsh records in San Francisco Bay and later, working for the Alaska Branch of the U.S. Geological Survey, she shifted her focus to the rich history of Pleistocene Glacial Lake Ahtna in the Copper River basin/Wrangell Mountains. Since 1991, she has been active in teaching earth science courses to southeast Alaskan undergraduates and K-12 teachers statewide. She has helped to foster undergraduate research in Quaternary studies that focus on glacier dynamic processes. Collaborative projects with faculty in the Geophysical Institute and the faculty and students of the Juneau Icefield Reserach Program has led to many presentations and publications. Most recently she has worked on an interdisciplinary study linking Neoglacial sediment records with Tlingit Ethnohistory in Glacier Bay National Park and a National Science Foundation-funded Geoscience Education effort that employs GIS and geologic field experiences to enrich Alaska's secondary science teachers and their students in the Earth Sciences. She represents Alaska as a state councillor for the National Association of Geology Teachers and is active in the American Geophysical Union, the Geological Society of America, and the Alaska Geological Society. |

Babb's articles have appeared in American Indian Quarterly and Narrative, and another on H.G. Wells is currently under review. Works in progress include the mind/body problem in Victorian literature and culture. |

Anne is a nutritionist, dietitian and food scientist and received her Ph.D. and MS from Reading University, UK and her Bachelor's degree and Diploma in Dietetics from London University, UK. Her research interests are in sweeteners and sensory science. Anne was elected to the UAA Faculty Senate in 2003 and as First VP for 2007-2008. She has been Co-Chair of the Library Advisory Committee since 2003 and Chair or Co-Chair of the Faculty Senate Distinguished Service Awards Committee since 2004. |

She received her Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 1982, and remained there as a special assistant professor and director of the endocrine service laboratory until 1989. Marsha has been associated with UAF in one capacity or another since the fall of 1989. She taught for the Biology Department, and has done research with the colleagues at the Institute of Arctic Biology and the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences. Currently Marsha is the Division Chair and Coordinator of Allied Health Programs at TVC. The diversity of her faculty experiences at UAF gives her a unique perspective, one that allows her to understand various faculty perspectives and build consensus among those who may have different needs and priorities. Marsha was elected to Faculty Senate in spring of 2006, and was elected chair of the Curricular Affairs Committee in the fall. Her goal as president is to facilitate the incorporation of the facultyÕs needs, goals and ideas into the administration of the University. She believes that the engagement of a wide group of faculty will lead to higher faculty morale and increased commitment to academic and research excellence. |

She is the Clinical Training Coordinator and Coordinator of Internship training in the M.S. in Clinical Psychology program. She teaches graduate courses primarily focused on clinical psychotherapy and testing. Her primary interests are family therapy and children with developmental and behavioral problems, including attention deficit disorder. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, biking, and art. |

He holds a BS (1984) and MS (1987) in Geology from Arizona State University, and is a three time Fulbright scholar to Germany. He received his doctoral degree in natural sciences in Geology, with minors in Geophysics and Computer Science from the University of Kiel, Germany in 1992. Since that time he has worked in the Siberian Arctic with the Liebniz-Insititute for Marine Science and on Hokkaido's volcanoes with the Geological Survey of Japan in Sapporo. He came to UAF in 1997 monitoring Alaska's volcanoes through satellite remote sensing developing new tools to improve prediction and hazard mitigation.Though a research faculty member, he has taught every year at UAF in addition to a strong commitment to outreach efforts at all levels. He also holds affiliate positions at the University of Hawaii at Manoa as well as at the Open University in Milton Keynes, UK, and is active in research on volcanoes Kamchatka and Italy. Jon was elected to theFaculty senate in 2006, serving on the Faculty Affairs Committee, which he chaired from 2007-2008. He was chosen and President-Elect in 2008. His focus in the Senate has been to include all faculty equally in self-governance, bringing a voice to research faculty at UAF. |

He has a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Indiana University and an MPA from American University. In previous incarnations he was a Foreign Service Officer with postings in Bangladesh, Australia and Washington DC, and a small business owner in Bozeman, Montana. His primary research interests are in democratic theory and organizational behavior. He is a Hospice Volunteer, a PFLAG member, a Quaker and currently holds a seat on the Juneau Borough Assembly. |
