The First Alaskans Institute, Commonwealth North, the University of Alaska Anchorage, and the Institute of Social and Economic Research are working together to foster a community conversation about strengthening education in Alaska.
Commonwealth North
Commonwealth North seeks to educate its members and others on significant public policy issues affecting Alaska and its future, and to assist in their resolution. Commonwealth North recently collaborated with the Lee Gorsuch Public Policy Forum to host a community-wide discussion on Alaska's education system entitled Strengthening Education in Alaska.
Ready to Read, Ready to Learn: Alaska's Early Childhood Investment
The goal of the project is that every child in Alaska arrives at school ready to read and ready to learn. In September 2006, they released a report called Alaska ready to Read, Ready to Learn Task Force Report & Recommendations.
System for Early Education Development (SEED)
SEED is a system of professional development for Alaska's field of Early Care and Learning. This July 2006 report Step Up: Early Ed & Child Care
is a summarized economic impact report on early education and child care services in Alaska. It was prepared by the McDowell Group for the System for Early Education Development (SEED) and the University of Alaska Southeast.
Institute for Social and Economic Research
