SUBJ: DRAFT GRIEVANCE AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION POLICY

Attached please find the latest revision to the Grievance and Dispute

Resolution policy, dated December 2, 1998. In addition to revisions to

the draft that were reviewed with the Human Resources Committee at its

meeting on November 19, 1998, I have reformatted, renumbered and renamed

the policy, added subsection titles, added a Table of Contents and made

non-substantive edits to text for clarity.

President Hamilton has approved that revisions to this policy be

presented to the Human Resources Committee for a 2nd Reading at its

February 18, 1999 meeting,

I will need to receive any Staff Alliance recommendations regarding this

policy, as a result of consultation with the campus staff councils, no

later than January 15 to ensure adequate time for administrative review

and agenda narrative and reference modification for the February 18-19,

1999 agenda.

In addition to sending you this hard copy, I will also load it on the

Board of Regents' homepage to provide greater access to employees. I

will send a notice to Statewide Administration when this is loaded and

would ask that the UAA, UAF and UAS governance offices send a similar

notice to their affected employees.
