Juella was born and raised in Alaska and graduated from UAF with a B.B.A. in Management. After several years working for the state and starting a family, she came back to the university to work for Cooperative Extension Service in December, 2002. She was active in student government and moved quickly to being active in staff governance at UAF. In her words, "I am looking forward to working with Staff Alliance and the System Governance Council to strengthen our UA system, especially with two teenagers contemplating post-secondary education."

California native, Heather Swanson currently works at the ITS Help Desk and moved to Juneau a year ago when her husbandÕs 2 week business trip passed the one year mark. A lifelong student, Heather has worked in the IT industry for over 15 years and owned a computer consulting firm for over 10 years. She has 3 boys (17, 8, and 3 mos), 2 dogs, and a husband that keep her busy. She enjoys camping, hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and friends Ð especially when she can cook for them.

Stephanie Ashley came to Juneau Alaska the spring of 2004 from Las Vegas, Nevada. She is an environmental science major. She's always been fascinated with the world around her and wants to protect it. She says being a student at UAS is like nothing she has ever experienced at any other college. She adds, " I have the ability to get involved with the community and student life in Juneau on a level that was nearly impossible back home. I want to help students get more involved in their community, and I hope to help students get their voices heard."

Anne Bridges

Anne Bridges is an Associate Professor in the Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Dietetics and Nutrition Department at UAA where she has worked since 2000. Anne is a nutritionist, dietitian and food scientist and received her Ph.D. and MS from Reading University, UK and her Bachelor's degree and Diploma in Dietetics from London University, UK. Her research interests are in sweeteners and sensory science. Anne was elected to the UAA Faculty Senate in 2003 and as First VP for 2007-2008. She has been Co-Chair of the Library Advisory Committee since 2003 and Chair or Co-Chair of the Faculty Senate Distinguished Service Awards Committee since 2004.

Jason Davis has been with the University of Alaska since 2004. He strted with the MLS group, then moved to the Windows Server Section and is currently Lead Desktop System Administrator He ha a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering. At wor, he enjoys helping users resolve computer issues, improving the computing instrastructure, and testing the latest server technology. When he isn't working, Jason enjoys playing computer games, camping, and playing the saxophone. Growing up in rural south Dakota taught Jason the value of tight-knit communities, hard work, and a good sense of humor.

Jill Dumesnil

Jill Dumesnil is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) in Juneau. She received her B.S. (1988) in Mathematical Sciences from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and her M.S. (1990) and Ph.D. (1993) in Mathematics from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. She joined the Natural Sciences Department at UAS in 2005 after serving 12 years as a mathematics faculty member at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. She has taught mathematics at all levels from developmental through thesis research at the Masters level, has co-authored two textbooks and a handful of research papers. Her passion is teaching mathematics to help produce quantitatively-literate, critical-thinking, and productive citizens.

Ruth Griess

Ruth Griess is 22 years old and was born and raised in Soldotna, Alaska. In junior high, she moved to Tucson, Arizona with her family and returned to Alaska to attend college in 2005. She has been studying art for the last four years and anticipates her graduation to be in the spring of 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts in Art. For the last year and a half, Ruth has been working in the art department at Kenai Peninsula College and looks forward to her new position as the KPC Student Union president and all of the new, exciting things to come.

Marsha Sousa

Marsha Sousa is an associate professor in the Allied Health Division of Tanana Valley Campus. She received her Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 1982, and remained there as a special assistant professor and director of the endocrine service laboratory until 1989. Marsha has been associated with UAF in one capacity or another since the fall of 1989. She taught for the Biology Department, and has done research with the colleagues at the Institute of Arctic Biology and the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences. Currently Marsha is the Division Chair and Coordinator of Allied Health Programs at TVC. The diversity of her faculty experiences at UAF gives her a unique perspective, one that allows her to understand various faculty perspectives and build consensus among those who may have different needs and priorities. Marsha was elected to Faculty Senate in spring of 2006, and was elected chair of the Curricular Affairs Committee in the fall. Her goal as president is to facilitate the incorporation of the facultyÕs needs, goals and ideas into the administration of the University. She believes that the engagement of a wide group of faculty will lead to higher faculty morale and increased commitment to academic and research excellence.

Kimberly Stanford

Kim was born in Juneau, raised in Anchorage and has worked at the University of Alaska since 1990. She previously worked in Distance Education, Administrative Services, and has worked in the Department of Theatre & Dance since 2002. Kim has served on the UAA Classified Council since 2000 (including serving 4 terms as President), and the UAA Assembly since 2002, now beginning her fourth term as UAA Assembly President. She has served on numerous councils and committees, including the UA Wellness Program Planning Group, Chancellor's Council on Sustainability, UAA Strategic Plan Subcommittee, and the UAA Planning Budget and Advisory Council (PBAC). Her main areas of concern for UA include improved communication at all levels throughout the system, employee benefits & compensation, and employee morale.

Lucas Wilcox is a college freshman pursuing a degree in electrical engineering so that he may help to construct geothermal power plants. Joe Hayes

Hayes earned his bachelor's degree in political science from UAF in 1997. While at UAF he served as student body president and student regent. Hayes was the first-ever African-American UAF student body president and UA student regent and at graduation he received the Joel Wiegert Award as the outstanding senior man. Hayes served as chief of staff for Rep.Tom Brice from 1997-2000 and served in the Alaska State House from 2000-2002. While in office, he served on the Labor and Commerce and State Affairs Committees as well as the Special Committees for Military and Veterans Affairs and Administrative Review. As executive director of the UAF Alumni Association, Hayes reports to a 11-member board and is responsible for daily operations of the association including membership, fundraising, legislative outreach, advocacy and coordination of the annual alumni reunion.

Lynne Johnson

Lynne Johnson of Juneau was appointed as the University of Alaska Southeast Development Officer and Alumni Association Coordinator by Chancellor John Pugh in January 2000. She serves as the campus contact with corporations and foundations who are willing to support higher education. She also works with the UAS Alumni Association in their efforts to support UAS and raise funds for UAS scholarships. Lynne Johnson has worked in development for over ten years. She was executive director of the Kenai Peninsula United Way and campaign manager for the successful $4 million Kenai Peninsula Borough capital campaign. She worked in educational development at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Alaska Foundation. Lynne Johnson and her family moved from Kenai to Juneau in 1998.

David J. Parks of Palmer, is president of the UAA Alumni Association. He was appointed student Regent by Governor Murkowski in 2003. He is a lifelong Alaskan and a 2000 graduate of Palmer High School. Regent Parks is the former UAA student body President (2002-03) and Vice President (2001-02). He has worked in the United States Senate as both an intern and as a staff member and is a US Coast Guard licensed Sea Captain.
